Day 1: Thursday, May 11th-Cherry Hill, NJ to St. Charles, Missouri-914 miles!

After a frenzied week of pushing through exams, end of year projects, papers, packing, cleaning, and shopping, we were finally ready to take off our next westward adventure. We roused the gang a little before 4am on Friday morning and were on the road shortly after as the car was all packed up the night before. Just a few minutes into our trip we were reminded of God's protective care for us...we were just leaving Philly when we saw 2 cars crazily speed by...Mark said,"They're up to no good!" and moments later as we rounded the corner we were stunned to find one of the cars spun out on the left shoulder facing oncoming traffic ...the other car was on the opposite shoulder and there was a tire in the middle of the left lane. Both guys were emerging from their cars as we passed by (miraculously, no one was injured) and we were left wondering if these were friends on a joyride or foes...we were so thankful for the Lord's protection! other than that, our trip out was pretty uneventful...no complaints about that!!
No surprise here, we have lots of stuff!!!
We did not have much excitement on the trip to St. Charles...but we did see this 'pest exterminator' with a terrified raccoon strapped to the roof...if you click on the picture you may get a better view!

Finally after 15 or so hours(we did stop for bathroom breaks and meals) we arrived at the Comfort Suites in St. Charles, Missouri. We stayed in a family suite and totally enjoyed these accommodations...so much easier and more relaxed than camping:)
These guys really enjoyed the indoor pool...even made a new friend and included him in their game of Marco Polo for a while~ Everyone (especially 2 family members in particular) were thrilled with the free hot breakfast enjoyed before we pushed off for our next destination.
